Heat two of Live Vibe at the Movies, will take place on Saturday, 18 September 2010 at the Lilian Baylis Studio, Sadler’s Wells, presented by Hakeem Onibudo. Bursting with raw talent from all over the UK, Live Vibe is set again to delight its intimate studio audience with a programme of exceptional grass roots dance and artistic performances.
Youth companies competing in round two for a place in the prestigious Live Vibe West End finale in January 2011 are Anonymous, Enigma, Infusion and Kayo. Each group will present their interpretation of the dynamic “At the Movies” theme to a panel of esteemed dance industry judges: Bim Malcolmson, Dani B Larsen and Melanie Precious.
Live Vibe will also show case professional performances from The Just Us Dance Company, Dan G and Maxwell Golden, Kate Mummery and Sara Gordon and the award winning performance poet and singer/song-writer, Lyrical Healer. Additionally, in its own inimitable style, Live Vibe will scour its spectators for untapped talent by introducing a number of concepts which encourage audience participation. In this heat, Hakeem will unveil his latest interactive brainchild, Text2Dance, an impulsive improvisation exercise where unsuspecting dancers are challenged to react instinctively to the lyrics of spoken word artists.
Hakeem Onibudo commented: “Live Vibe at the Movies is shaping up to be one of the most exciting series of Live Vibe to date. The standard of talent among the competing groups has been absolutely jaw-dropping, we can’t wait to see and share the fruits of our labour in developing these exceptional young performers in the run up to what we anticipate to one of our most entertaining shows yet.”
The Live Vibe at the Movies series will continue with heats three and four on 16 October and 27 November respectively. 16 October will see Hakeem Onibudo’s renowned London dance company, Impact Dance, celebrate its 15th Birthday, when it will run an extra special programme of events, to be announced.
